Please welcome today's very talented guest from USA!
My name is Erin Blegen and I'm from the United States (Minnesota). I've been with my hubby Josh for 6 1/2 years and we have 3 children. We live a quiet life in the woods and enjoy the outdoors immensely! Hunting, fishing, four wheeling, gardening, swimming- anything to get us outside. I also love baking, cooking, and canning- especially when it comes to something homegrown :). And of course I love my year-round hobby of papercrafting! I love to mix it up with layouts, cards, tags, altered projects, and canvases- anything to keep me being creative and learning more about myself artistically.
When did you discover paper craft, and why do you still create within this craft?
I first tried my hand at scrapbooking in 2007 when my first child was born. But I only managed to create one album and then dismissed the hobby until July 2010 when my next child was born. Since then, I've never looked back. What began as a way to preserve the memories of my family has blossomed into something even more. I love that I get to accomplish my original reason for scrapbooking while discovering myself as a crafter.
Where do you find inspiration to your work?
Right here in my own home, to begin with! My children are my primary inspiration- the love that I feel when I sift through their photos to find "the one" for that particular project. I most definitely create based on emotion. But I also love to see "pretty" things and draw inspiration from them too- whether it be a bird, some fabric, fashion, food- you name it!
Where, and when do you prefer to create, and how do you prefer to have it around you?
My ideal scrap setting would be at my (clean!) desk, plenty of natural light, a little bit of music, and solitude. But being a SAHM to 3 little kids- I almost never get that, ha! So most often I have to resort to getting done what I can during naptime and then finishing up after the kids are in bed :).
How does your scrap place usually look like? Since our recent move to a new home, I've had to share my bedroom with my scrap desk. I try to keep it organized- but I am a messy scrapper and after just one project it is pretty disastrous. But I definitely have to clean up before starting something new- I cannot work in a mess!
Do you have any favorite Prima – Ingvild Bolme line products?
Oh my goodness- how can I choose? I am most definitely a Shabby Chic Resin Treasures collector- and have multiples of the "Fly Away" birdies in my stash! Also adore the "Rusty Typo Zippers" and "Small Typo Bulbs". And I'm pretty sure I own just about every one of the Chalk Edger's- they're affordable, versatile, and adorable!
Now lets take a look at Erin's inspirational creations!
